How to create a course with a subscription option?Pro
Learn how to create a course with a subscription option or recurring payments.
Follow the steps below to create a subscription-based course with recurring payments via PayPal, Stripe or Mollie.
Requires
- Masteriyo LMS Pro plan or above
- A supported payment gateway — PayPal (built in, no add-on needed), or the Stripe or Mollie payment add-on.
Configuration
Once you have set up the PayPal, Stripe or Mollie payment gateway for your courses, you can create a course with a subscription by following the steps below.
- Go to Courses > Select a Course.
- Go to Settings > Pricing
In the course that has payment set as Paid, you can choose Recurring
Here, you can set the time period for the subscription along with the subscription fees. You can set the expiry time in months. The maximum expiry time can be set up to 24 months.
Native recurring/subscription billing is supported by the PayPal, Stripe and Mollie payment gateways. (WooCommerce-based recurring payments are handled separately through the WooCommerce Subscriptions extension — see the WooCommerce Subscription Support page.)
Managing subscriptions Pro
Once students subscribe, you can view and manage all subscriptions from Masteriyo LMS > Orders > Subscriptions in the WordPress admin. This screen requires an active Masteriyo Pro license above the Basic tier and lets you filter subscriptions by status:
- Active
- Pending
- On Hold
- Cancelled
- Expired
